idle but deadly

Oh my god. After reading a couple of reviews of a game called Half-Minute Hero, I decided to pick it up because it sounded like a lot of fun. But the journey to possessing the game took a bit longer than I expected, due to the fact that apparently games can't be sold in Canada unless they have a French localization for Quebec. I didn't know about this, so I was really weirded out by the fact that it wasn't on Amazon or at any online store.

The struggle proved worth it because when I started the game up, I was greeted by This song. Also, the game is hilarious and is super clever.

Anyway, that isn't really what I'm writing here about. What I'm writing about is the response to that video, which is apparently the original song with vocals. Called "Vampire."

Toshihiko Takamizawa from Alfee composed it (I think he's behind some of the more awesome music in this game).

So, the video response is the original song's video. This song (at least the instrumental version) is my current positivity anthem, partly because I've never laughed so hard watching a music video as I did viewing that one.

Toshihiko Takamizawa seems to have borrowed the lead guitarists from, like, three different bands. And they all do solos (the solo madness starts around 3:45 or so). It looks kind of like a meeting of posi-goth-metal guitar-club or something. All these three "backing" guitarists with their rather uniform black-leather and eyeliner punky look just emphasize Toshihiko Takamizawa's ringleted Lestat style.

Also, while you can hear the drums/synthesized choir, they appear nowhere in the video. I think maybe it was because they didn't fit alongside all of the guitarists and the large mirrors reflecting said guitarists.

Oh yeah, I should really warn you before you listen to it, he is significantly off key for most of the song. It's kind of painful. But also funny!

But the side-to-side headbanging is amazing. He looks kind of like he's wobbling, only really violently. Hair is just flying everywhere in this video. He also has some shots where he's suddenly posing to show vampire fangs. Oh god, my stomach.

p.s. - I just found more gold. Check this out. Those guitars make it look like four-person synchronized bird molestation in front of the Screaming Wall from Brutal Legend.
